About Us |
|
The Rise Radio Network is a non-profit faith-based community support agency that seeks to raise up mental health peer support workers in every community. We spearhead this by creating community radio stations. A peer support worker is someone who has had lived experience with an addiction or a mental health disorder. Their lived experience and their recovery brings hope and confidence to the person they are serving that they too can find recovery. Peer support is an excellent frontline treatment because it is difficult to find professional help on short notice. Our goal is to connect people with a peer support worker the same day they contact us. Peer support is also helpful for people who are in between counselling appointments and who just need a listening ear or a friend to talk to. The Canadian government has written some guidelines on peer support and are a free download at www.peersupportcanada.com. We encourage everyone to develop skills in helping those who struggle using these tips and guidelines. We hope to broadcast music and short conversation segments related to biblical truth as it relates to healing from addictions and mental health challenges. Right now we need conversation content. If you have a desire to share something related to healing from mental health challenges or addictions, contact us and we will set up a time to interview you. We will help you create a compelling audio that we can use for content for the radio and for our podcast. The goal of each radio station is to operate its own 24 hour Zoom conference call so that anyone in the community can call in and instantly feel part of a local conversation related to mental wellness.
